DigiChek was founded on the Gold Coast by Laura-Leigh Cameron-Dow: lawyer, systems designer, and the person who took the concept behind DigiChek to Visa in London in 2000.
Visa spent three months with the architecture and confirmed it could not be hacked. They concluded passwords weren’t enough of a problem yet to act on. That assessment has not aged well.
Laura-Leigh brings forty years of applied systems thinking to DigiChek, from building Schroders Investment Management’s first corporate intranet, to leading Y2K preparation across European investment banks, to seventeen years as an award-winning academic at Bond University. Her PhD, passed with no corrections in 2020, examined why well-designed frameworks fail in practice. DigiChek’s architecture reflects that lesson: a credential built to work for every user, on any device, in any context, from the ground up.
DigiChek is a single reusable credential for payments, login, and age assurance. Users verify once, create a DigiChek Key, and use it everywhere: any device, any platform, any organisation running DigiChek. No biometrics. No document uploads. No app.
DigiChek was assessed in Australia’s national Age Assurance Technology Trial. Following the trial, DigiChek was confirmed at Technology Readiness Level 9, demonstrating operational readiness in commercial environments. We were validated across all criteria: functionality, privacy, security, usability, accessibility, and inclusivity.
