Filter fraud at the gateway. Not after.

DigiChek helps stop synthetic identities and fraudulent transactions before they reach your bank: reducing chargebacks, interchange costs, and dispute fees at the source.

The fraud your current system can’t catch

Right now, every transaction that passes through your payment gateway gets routed to your bank and payment processor before any meaningful identity check happens. Fraud detection tools work hard, but they work on the wrong side of the net.

Your bank identifies a fraudulent transaction. But by then, you’ve already paid the interchange fee to get it there. The chargeback comes back to you. The dispute costs you again. And the synthetic ID that slipped through will try again tomorrow.

The result? Businesses in high-risk transaction environments — online gaming, digital goods, loyalty programs, gift cards, recurring billing — are losing significant revenue on fraud they could have stopped before it started.

We turned the payment gateway into a filter

Traditional fraud tools score behaviour. Banks assess risk after routing. DigiChek adds identity confirmation at the gateway before issuer processing begins by confirming the identity and real-time consent of the person initiating the transaction before it’s routed to your bank or payment processor. If the key doesn’t match, the transaction stops before interchange fees are triggered, before the issuer is involved, and before a chargeback can occur. We complement your existing stack, not replace it.

Unlike Stripe ID, PayPal verification, or bank-level SMS authentication, which all operate after the gateway, DigiChek acts before these systems ever see the transaction.

How it works at the gateway

When a customer reaches checkout, their transaction details are sent to the payment gateway as normal. Before the gateway routes this to the bank, DigiChek performs an instant check:

  • Does a DigiChek Key exist for this identity (name, date of birth, place of birth)?
  • Does the key entered match the registered credential?
  • If yes: transaction proceeds. If no: transaction is blocked at gateway level and at gateway cost.

For customers without a key, the transaction passes through as normal. Fraud filtering activates only for verified users, making adoption incremental and risk-free for rollout. And because DC Keys work across any organisation running DigiChek, a verified user’s key carries with them wherever DigiChek is active.

What this means for your business

  • Stop chargebacks before they start. Fraudulent transactions that never reach the bank can’t generate chargebacks.
  • Reduce downstream bank fees on fraudulent transactions. No interchange fees on transactions that would have been reversed.
  • Protect your merchant facility. Businesses whose chargeback rates breach thresholds risk losing payment processing altogether. DigiChek reduces that risk directly.
  • No friction for legitimate customers. Verified users enter their permanent key once at checkout — faster than waiting for an SMS code.
  • Device-agnostic. Unlike passkeys or competitor solutions that tie identity verification to a specific device or app, DC Keys work on any device, anywhere: no platform dependency, no app required.
  • AI-resistant. Stronger against automated fraud because real-time user input is required for every protected transaction.
  • No system overhaul. DigiChek integrates via a lightweight SDK. Your payment gateway, your bank relationships, your checkout flow — none of it changes.
  • Fast implementation. Fully remote, no infrastructure investment required.

Industries where DigiChek pays for itself

DigiChek delivers the clearest ROI in industries where chargebacks are existential rather than merely costly:

  • Online gaming and wagering — where chargeback thresholds can end your merchant facility
  • Digital goods and software — high dispute rates, low physical recovery
  • Loyalty programs and gift cards — vulnerable to duplicate account fraud and synthetic IDs
  • Recurring billing and subscriptions — where stolen credentials compound losses over time
  • Financial services and lending — where identity confirmation is both a commercial and regulatory requirement
